The Best Sugar Cookie Icing Recipe

A 3-ingredient recipe for The Best Sugar Cookie Icing that sets firm without meringue powder or egg whites will delight sugar cookie enthusiasts.  


– 2 cups confectioners’ sugar – 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted – 3 Tablespoons whole milk, plus more as needed – Food coloring (optional)

Get a medium-sized bowl and sift the confectioners' sugar into it. Mix the melted butter and whole milk together with a whisk until the mixture is smooth.

If the icing is too thick, add more whole milk one teaspoon at a time and mix it in until it's thinner. You can add food colouring if you want to.  

Step 2

Put icing on top of cookies or dip them in it and then spread it out with a spoon. This should take about 10 minutes. After that, leave the cookies at room temperature until the icing sets.
