Zaatar Bagels Recipe

Zaatar bagels can be made at home without special equipment. This simple water bath, stand mixer, or hand-kneaded recipe rises overnight on the counter. Adding zaatar to dough generously coats bagels. 

– 1 cup self-rising flour (substitution for self-rising flour: 1 cup all purpose flour, 2 teaspoon baking powder and ½ teaspoon salt) – 1 cup Greek yogurt – 1 egg

STEP  1 .

And flour are well mixed before adding the yogurt if you are making your own self-rising flour.

STEP 2.

Flour a cutting board and knead the dough 10 to 15 times. Do not work the dough too much. Split the dough into four equal parts.

Make ropes out of the dough and join the ends together to make a circle. In a small bowl, whisk one egg. Then, use an egg wash to cover each bagel.

STEP 4.

Put the bagels on a baking sheet that has been greased or lined with parchment paper. Spread za'atar on top of the bagels in a generous way.

STEP 5.

Bake bagels for 20–25 minutes until golden. Remove from the oven and cool to room temperature before cutting. Approximately 15 minutes. Have fun!
