You can have this strawberry smoothie for breakfast or as a dessert. This recipe for a strawberry smoothie is rich, creamy, and good for you. It tastes a lot like strawberry milkshake.
– 1 ½ cups to 2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk or water – 10 ounces (2 cups) frozen strawberries, thawed for 5 to 10 minutes* – 1 ½ cups frozen bananas (I freeze my bananas in ½″ slices) – ¼ cup almond butter – Optional nutrition boosters: ¼ cup old-fashioned oats and/or 2 tablespoons flax seed – 1 to 2 teaspoons maple syrup, if desired for sweetne
Mix everything in a blender, starting with almond milk. Blend on low until the blender starts to move, then increase the speed as soon as possible (or use a smoothie function).
If you have a blender tamper, use it. If you need to, stop and scrape down the sides. Do not try to break up the strawberries right away. Wait a few minutes and then try again.
If you need to, add up to ½ cup more milk. The smoothie should be smooth and creamy by now. If you want it sweeter, add maple syrup and blend it in.
Use a measuring cup to divide the smoothie into two to four glasses, depending on how much you want to drink. Serve as soon as possible!
