Double Chocolate Waffles Recipe

Breakfast indulgence: fluffy double chocolate waffles with strawberries, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce.

INGREDIENT

For the waffles: – 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour – 1/2 Tablespoon baking powder – 1/2 teaspoon baking soda – 1/2 teaspoon salt – 2 Tablespoons white sugar – 2 Tablespoons brown sugar – 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder – 1/3 cup vegetable oil – 2 large egg – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – 1 1/4 cups buttermilk – 3/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chip –  Serving suggestions: – Butter – Sliced strawberrie – Blackberries, raspberries, or blueberrie – Sliced banana – Chocolate syrup or hot fudge – Salted caramel sauce

INSTRUCTION

Remove and preheat your waffle maker from the back of your cabinets. Parchment or wax paper under the waffle machine simplifies cleanup.

Step 1

A small bowl should contain flour, baking powder, soda, salt, sugars, and cocoa. Add oil, eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk to another bowl. Blend wet and dry ingredients.

Step 2

A lumpy batter. Add chocolate chips. Batter amounts vary by waffle iron size. About 2/3 cup each waffle. Add chocolate chips to hot waffle iron batter.

Step 3

Close the waffle iron and cook 4-7 minutes. Mine are great after steam subsides. Place waffle in single layer on cookie cooling rack-lined baking sheet after carefully removing from iron.

Step 4

Keep hot in a 200-degree oven until serving. Put strawberries, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce on waffles. A large Belgian waffle iron may make 3 waffles, however my iron made 5.
