For the waffle tofu:– 1 (350g/ 12.3oz) block medium, firm, or extra-firm tofu, drained and cut into 4 square slice– 2 - 3 tablespoons cornstarch– spray oilFor the sauce (optional, feel free to use any sauce or toppings you like):– 3 green onions, chopped– 2 tablespoon soy sauce– 1 tablespoon hoisin– 1 tablespoon sesame seeds– 2 teaspoons sesame oil– 1 teaspoon rice vinegar– 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce or Sriracha

Place cornstarch in a large bowl. Coat each tofu slice in cornstarch and shake off excess.

Warm your waffle maker. To avoid dry spots, generously oil each slice of tofu before adding it to the waffle iron.

After lightly spraying the iron with more spray oil, layer the tofu slices. Close the waffle iron and place a heavy pan on top to compress the tofu.

Let the tofu cook until lightly golden, checking every 5 minutes. It will take 10–20 minutes.

Tofu is ready to eat after cooking! Try it like toast with avocado, sauces, or other toppings.
